PUSC Care and Connect 2023: Hydroponic Plant Cultivation with the Women Residents of RT 02 Kampung Dusun Cibeber
Cikarang, January 13th, 2024 – PUSC Care and Connect consists of two days; the first day is filled with plant cultivation with women residents to foster the spirit of entrepreneurship.
To celebrate the 15th anniversary, PUSC held a Care and Connect 2023 event with women residents from RT 02 Kampung Dusun Cibeber. This event aims to foster an entrepreneurial spirit by seeing business opportunities even though from home. The availability of green land is decreasing as the human population increases. It moved us to collaborate with the women residents of RT 02 Kampung Dusun Cibeber to cultivate plants using hydroponic techniques.
There are so many advantages to planting with hydroponic techniques. As I Gusti Prayata Anom explained when giving material about hydroponics, "Not only good yields but also free from plant pests, does not require large areas of land, save water, harvest faster, and reduce the use of pesticides".
Learning about plant cultivation with hydroponic techniques can also be a form of empowerment for these women residents to build an entrepreneurial spirit by seeing promising business opportunities, as hoped by the vice project manager Thorina Friscilia Stefanus in her remarks, "I hope, what has been explained by our committee colleagues, can be useful knowledge and can be utilized properly by all women residents in looking for business opportunities even if only from home."
Plant cultivation is just one example of activities that impact the environment around President University. PUSC will continue its dedication to conducting activities that have a positive impact to become an organization with empathy for the surrounding environment and current issues.
President University Student Council or PUSC is President University's highest legislative student organization, which bridges President University students to campus and dormitory management.
